Semporna is a small area located on the east coast of Sabah. Semporna District in the past is not so obvious and not so famous as it does not have any privileges. But since the government opened the door to foreign operators to develop several islands in the area such as Sipadan Island Semporna, Mabul Island and Mataking, boosted Semporna District name as one of the global tourist will appear on par with some of the main tourist visitors .

'No Plastic Mondays' may be held on other days
City Hall is mulling extending its ‘No Plastic on Monday’ campaign to other days of the week to increase the frequency when shoppers are encouraged to bring their own shopping bags.
City Hall Director of Health and Urban Service department, Robert Lipon, said that City Hall said the matter would be discussed in a coming meeting following encouraging response from members of the public and business establishments alike.

The free one day first aid course, provided by the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Sabah branch, received an encouraging response when 50 participants turned up at the MRCS Sabah branch headquarters yesterday.
Sabah honey production drops due to erratic weather pattern
The erratic weather conditions in Sabah over the past few years had taken its toll on the local honey production. According to the Rural Development Corporation (KPD), an agency under the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry, a recent research found that the weather was the key factor in the drop of honey production in Kudat, Kota Marudu and Pitas, the top three areas for honey production in Sabah.

If done right, Malaysia can become a key deepwater oil and gas hub globally after Houston, Rio De Janeiro and Aberdeen.
Disclosing this, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said clearly, the era of easy oil is over and the exploration and production of oil and gas will move increasingly into deeper waters, presenting new challenges as well as opportunities.

Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan says Sabah would be developed into an internationally recognised destination of choice in Asia for business and leisure by 2025 under the 18-year Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) Project.
FRD launches first EMRS team in Sabah
KOTA KINABALU: The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) officially launched the first Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) team in Sabah yesterday.
The first batch consisted of 40 personnel headed by FRD public relations officer Mohamad Nor Amit after recently completing 120 hours of training in three major hospitals.
NAME OF SABAH comes from the Bajau of Sulu
Known as 'banana saba' which is a type of fruit called "SABBAH" or "SAPPAH" by the Bajau people, Sulu, the most popular made of fried bananas. Bananas are grown throughout the west coast of Sabah as a food source. 'Banana Saba', also known as the 'Jaba' the Bajau community in the state. Now a 'banana saba' better known as the banana down.
Early History Semporna
'Tong Talun' is the original name for the district of Semporna, which means "end of the Forest" in the term Bajau tribe. The person responsible for nominating the Chief Uddang Talun Tong, Commander and Chief of Sallehangni Way of the Bajau Kubang descent. This is because in the Semporna district was covered / surrounded by a forest wilderness in the early discovery. Then, Tong Talun Semporna has changed the name meaning "Place of Peace or Peace" until now.
